Description
Bears sit for a variety of reasons, including resting, grooming, or protecting themselves from the sun or the cold.
Smaller black bears, on the other hand, tend to sit more upright on their hind legs. This position allows them to better survey their surroundings. They may also sit in a more relaxed position, with their legs extended in front of them. This position is often seen when they are grooming themselves or simply relaxing.
